Tennis ace Andy Murray has been knocked out of the Wimbledon quarter finals.

The 27-year-old was playing against close friend, Grigor Dimitrov.

Dimitrov beat Andy 6-1 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 on Centre Court in the sweltering summer heat as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge look on.

Kate and Wills took a sharp intake of breath as it Andy was officially knocked out of the world famous tournament. Andy’s girlfriend Kim Sears also looked on as he crashed out of the competition.

Gracious loser Andy shook hands with his friend and opponent Dimitrov before signing autographs for fans on his way off the court.

Andy’s loss comes a year after he celebrated winning the men’s Wimbledon final after years of training. He is the first British man to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry 77 years ago.

He was then crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2013 on the back of his jubilant win.
