The couple fell in love and moved in together in 1933 and went on to have 8 children, 50 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Jose Manuel Riella made his sacred vows to his bride, Martina Lopez, at an emotional ceremony attended by member of their close- but large- family.

The wedding was held at the couple’s home in Santa Rosa de Aguaray in central Paraguay. An altar was erected especially for the important event.Among the wedding guests were the couples 20 great-great grandchildren.

The blushing bride wore a white wedding dress and her hair decorated by flowers and her happy groom wore a smart suit and blue shirt.

The newlyweds already had a civil ceremony 31 years ago but chose to have a religious ceremony after over eight decades together. The world is almost unrecognizable to life in 1933 when the newlywed’s story started. The couple’s romance has witnessed two world wars, the moon landing and the invention of the television as well as the great depression and the creation of the internet.

Luckily for us, they waited since they would have been unable to catch the special day on camera in 1933!

It just proves that true love really can last a lifetime.
