Ah, weddings. It’s a time of love, of happiness, of committing to one person for life.
It’s also very much a time of tradition.
From that white dress to the first dance, or the wedding cake to the tossing of the bouquet, there are plenty of little staples that people include in their big day.
And now there’s a whole new wedding trend that’s sweeping the nation.
According to a survey from TheKnot.com and Mashable, 55% of newlyweds have adopted a wedding hashtag for their tying of the knot.
Yup, gone are the days of asking guests to put their mobile phones AWAY on your big day.
Instead, couples are taking advantage of their social media obsessed guests and picking out a hashtag for them to use when they (inevitably) upload their photos to Facebook.
Making them easier to find, collect, and steal for the wedding album.
So what’s the most popular couple hashtag?
Well, brides and grooms have been doing everything from their nicknames (e.g. #TheSmiths), to combination names (e.g. #Kimye), to hilarious or cutesy catchphrases (e.g. #Tilds&OllieGetHitched).
There’s even an extra-special Wedding Hashtag Generator you can use to craft your own ultra-special tag.
Either way, it’s worth reminding your guests not to share any photos until after you’ve said ‘I do’ - even if they’re using your chosen hashtag.
After all, what’s a bride without a dash of mystery, eh?
Would you ever use a hashtag at your wedding?
