ColourNation’s salon manager Grant says that before bleaching your hair, have in mind your natural colour before determining the result that you’re after.“It will depend on the shades of their natural hair to begin with, and whether they have any artificial colour, natural will lift lighter and easier and with more control.”If you have naturally light brown hair, you can expect bleach to dramatically lift your hair, whereas dark hair will need far more product to lift the colour.

If you’re addicted to the straighteners, you might want to rethink your plans to bleach your hair, as chances are your locks are already parched. If you decide to go ahead make sure your hair is in tip-top condition. A month before you plan to bleach your locks, indulge in an intense conditioning treatment. Let your hair dry naturally, or use a very low heat setting on your blow dryer to minimise heat damage, remembering to spray on plenty of heat protection spray.

If you get sick of the bleached look, never attempt to cover it up with dark hair dye at home!□This will damage the hair, or cause it to go a brassy, ginger colour. Not good!Instead, visit a reputable salon (like ColourNation) and talk to your stylist about how you can go darker without damaging your hair further.
