If you're not make-up obssessed then all the lotions and potions your supposed to put on your face can become increasingly confusing; what with new products being released all the time and so many different concoctions where do you even begin?
...Well, we are here to offer a helping hand!
One of the most common confusions lie with BB creams - What actually are they? And what do they do?
BB stands for Beauty Balm - Essentially it's a combination of a face cream, foundation, and SPF which has the consistency of a moisturiser. So, it gives your skin added moisture whilst also giving a light coverage and sun protection all in one. A tripple whammy!
-
Just like face creams they come in a basic formula for general use but you can also purchase them with other added qualities, such as anti-ageing and skin rejuvination.
-
You can also use them as a primer, by applying BB cream before your foundation as a base to build upon. If using as a primer leave to sink into the skin for a few minutes before applying your foundation, so as not to blend the two together. Alternatively, you can ditch the foundation and use just the BB cream for a light coverage leaving you with a natural looking finish.
-
Additionaly most BB creams also contain added sun protection. Generally the SPF in BB creams ranges from 5 to 30; however if you have fair skin or burn easily look out for the high SPF ranges which can reach up to 50. Steer towards the same SPF that you would purchase in a suncream for the best results.
