Channel Mum partnered with LeapFrog to offer parents guidance to help children be school ready, and we love their advice!

The first in a series of videos has been released, which follows four mums as they prepare their family for school life for the first time – offering viewers an insight into their personal experiences.

Vloggers Natasha, Jess, Anna and Katy reveal their practical tips, support and advice on topics and milestones that parents face when preparing their little ones to go to school.

According to Google/TNS's Moms Audience Study research, over 80% of parents search online to discover information and three in five turn to videos for their answers.

Channel Mum founder and mother of three Siobhan Freegard said: "There's nothing better than advice from other mums who've been there and done it.”

In the first video, the four mums discuss how they felt when they received their child’s primary school confirmation letters, and how they prepared their children by taking them on an adventure to get them excited and comfortable with the idea of school.

Some of the advice from the mums included asking friends and family for advice, teaching the tots practical skills like washing their hands, and even role playing scenarios at home.

And other parents commented on the YouTube video to praise the mums for sharing their experiences, saying thanks for the “great” advice.

One user commented: “This is such great advice! It's such a big step going to school so I'm glad there are a few things I can do to make it a smoother process!”

“Great video for families,” another mentioned.

And others offered some of their own advice, like this mum: “Aw this made me so emotional! My eldest started school last year - I would add act as excited as possible in front of your children about school and just run away and cry your eyes out in the car!”

“Another great tip is to perhaps do the school run walk a few times and show them the school they'll be going to. Make it fun as much as possible,” another added.

What did you make of the video? Do you have any of your own advice for other mums?
