Travel: Closer’s Style Team Head To Athens

To shoot all the wonderful fashion in Closer’s Lifestyle section sometimes the style team have to jet off to fabulous sunny locations – poor us eh! This May we headed out to Greece staying in the Grand Resort Lagonissi and thought it was too great not to share a snippet of the place!

If your planning out your summer hols for this year, or even the next, and want a beach getaway with a bit of optional culture thrown in, Athens is the place for you. We fell in love with the city instantly and with flights to Europe still super cheap now’s the time to book up!

The 5 star resort is located on the coast of the Athenian Riviera just a short drive from the airport. With an abundance of sightseeing attractions, shopping districts to explore along the coast line the resort is the perfect base camp.

The Grounds:

The Grand Resort Lagonissi is so grand it is basically it’s very own village complex; nothings more than a few minutes walk away but you still feel like your secluded when in your own apartment – the perfect balance. With it’s own private beaches, spa, shops, sports facilities (including scuba diving and water skiing!) and family zones for kids; you won’t want ever leave the place! Although, if you do decide to venture out Athens city centre and main tourist attractions are less than a 30 minute drive away.

The Apartment:

If your looking for the life of luxury while your away then we’ve certainly found it! The apartment we stayed in included an open plan set up with a double bed (fit for laying out shoot accessories!) lounge area and dining table. With a walk in wardrobe and a huge bathroom come gym – complete with jaquzzi, steam room, treadmill and even a punching bag. As if all that wasn’t enough, the highlight had to be the crystal clear infinity pool over looking the bay.

The Food:

Oh the food - where do we even start?! In the centre of the site, adjacent to the private beach, sits a lovely traditional Greek restaurant called ‘Mediterraneo’ with its own sea view. Expect generous portions and with fresh scrumptious sea food being the star of the show. The crispy calamari was a clear favourite for the Closer team, seen in pic 1, served with a spritz of lemon and a … dip. But if you don’t fancy a beachfront seafood dining experience, then I’m sure one of the other 8 restaurants and bars on site will win you over!
