Ex-Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett lost consciousness for 30 seconds after a horror collision at Hunmanby Raceway near Scarborough yesterday
The soap star spent two hours in the wreckage as firefighters attempted to cut her free.
She was airlifted to safety and flown 41 miles to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she is awaiting the results of a CT scan. Roxanne, 35, is said to be suffering severe bruising and two sprained wrists, but is stable in hospital.
The accident happened as Roxanne was racing Ben Fry, the co-host of her Minster FM Breakfast show, to promote the Outlaw Gold Top Shootout event on August 11th.
A source told The Sun Online, "She tried to overtake Ben on a bend and was travelling too fast and smashed into the concrete wall on the track.
"Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and race gear."
Footage of the crash shows a green helicopter taking off from the middle of the race track as two fire engines and a police van stand by.

Roxanne is best known for playing Jo Sugden in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale from 2005 to 2008.
Last year, Roxanne hinted that she would return to the show.
"Emmerdale left the door open which is a huge compliment and I would totally consider a return if it was right for both the writers and me.
"Not a week goes by when I’m not asked by the British public when they will see ‘Jo’ again, which really warms my heart," she told The Sun
