You can dream, you can plan, you can pay a fortune, but you simply cannot guaranteed that everything will run completely smoothly on the big day.

Yep, weddings can be just as unpredictable as everyday life - just with all that added pressure to be 'The Best Day Of Your Life,' of course.

Well, Reddit users took to the site to ‘fess up about the most terrible things that ever happened at a wedding they’ve attended, and boy, be prepared.

From hilarious to truly tragic, here's the worse of wedding tales...

Call On Me

“Someone's cell phone started ringing loudly during the exchange of vows in church, and the guy actually answered it, and began talking in full voice, as if he weren't even part of the occasion.

"The Minister stopped, because it was so intrusive, and asked him to please end it - and the guy got rude, and made some objectionable remarks. At which point the ushers escorted him out, while the idiot made a big scene.”

Looking Hot

“In the late 80s (the days of big hair with lots of hairspray) I was at a wedding where a bridesmaid stepped back a little too close to a candle and then "poof" - her hair lit up in flames. The minister quickly dove into action and put the flames out with his hands and the Bible he was holding. Most memorable wedding ever though”

‘Til Death Do Us Part

“[A] kid drowned a duck in the pond. The floating candles were a lot less romantic with a dead mallard in the middle of them.”

Out The Loop

“Pastor dropped one of our rings. We got married at an outdoor gazebo. Ring fell between boards on the steps. The best man [was] trying to use a stick to get the ring while [my] brother sprinted half mile back to his car and got a hanger which was able to hook the ring.

“But the combo of hanger and ring were too wide to make it back through the crack. Luckily groomsmen were given foldable Gerber knives and they were able to use them to guide the ring through the crack. Finally got it and wedding continued. Still married 11 years later.”

A Smashing Start

“While heading to the chapel, [the] Bride's parents managed to T-bone Groom's parents coming out of a blind intersection.”

Make Ups and Break Ups

“The bride's brother was dumped at the wedding and his (now-ex) got drunk and danced wildly while the guy cried in the corner.”

Like Daughter, Like Father

“My sister and dad had been swimming all day before the wedding (which was an outdoor wedding). Anyways, during the ceremony and the trading of the rings, my sister (who was a flower girl) passed out from sun stroke.

"We had to put the ceremony on pause to make sure she was okay. Once we got her back up and made sure all was good they continued.

"And as soon as they continue, my dad passes out.”

“My son was our ringbearer at 3 years old, and he was well behaved walking up the aisle... but when he saw me in my dress, he shouted 'Mama, you look...' Our families started to aww before he finished with '... ridiculous!'

"It was hilarious, but definitely not part of the plan."

Trick Up His Sleeve

“The best man got up to make a speech. He wasn't very bright and he was very nervous. He somehow managed to get the tablecloth stuck in his sleeve and he pulled the tablecloth off the table, lost his balance and the table went off the side of the dais, which collapsed, sending the bridal party onto the floor in a hail of broken wine glasses and china. One of the groomsmen broke his arm.

"The bride and groom were divorced within a year.”

A No Show

“[I] am a church organist. [For one wedding, the] bride didn't turn up. Neither did the groom. Or the priest. Just me and the families of both.

"Turns out that the bride was standing him up and had eloped, the groom was standing her up because he got cold feet (and was sleeping with her sister) and the priest thought it was the next day. All came out at the reception, which they invited me to because apparently cracking jokes to their kids was appreciated. Still got paid."

Left Speechless

“The best man gave a speech at the reception in which he mentally broke down (with tears) and proceeded to tell everyone he actually loved the groom.”
