Every parent has their own ideas about how their children should be raised, and therefore it’s incredibly difficult when your parenting is put into question by others.

That is what one mother is facing after talking about how her and her husband are bringing up their daughter.

Australian model, Rachael Finch, has been facing criticism after a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph. The mum-of-one spoke about her usual routine with 2-year-old daughter, Violet, and admitted to dropping her toddler off to her mother-in-law every weekend.

In the interview, Rachael explained that her and husband Michael Miziner leave Violet with Irena, Michael’s mother, in order for them to be the best parents for their daughter.

“Every weekend [Violet] goes to Mish’s mum’s house, and we get our weekend to ourselves,” she said.

“And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100 per cent energy back.”

However, people were quick to judge the model’s actions, with some calling Rachael ‘selfish’ and blasting her for leaving her child for two days a week.

Rachael, the former Miss Universe Australia, defended herself on Instagram with a photograph of gorgeous little Violet, calling out those that were casting judgement on her parenting.

“A mother should never be made to feel they are not good enough for their child when they are doing everything they can to keep them safe, happy and loved. Only the parents of a child truly know what is best and should always have faith in their decisions,” she wrote.

Rachel and Michael, who were married in 2013 after being paired together during Dancing With The Stars in 2010, were adamant in the interview that this time away from their daughter enabled them to be better parents, and allowed them time to recharge. She also stated that she believed it to be “incredibly healthy for the relationship”.

Many people who disagreed with Rachel flooded the comments section of her photograph, with user xc_levex writing, “you’re a joke! Why become a mother at all? I usually don’t judge others, but I am full on judging your character as a mother. That’s truly disgusting…”

Some also took to Twitter to voice their opinions.

Although many were shocked by Rachael’s admission, there were also users who supported her decision.

“Rachael, you do what is best for you and your family! Don’t let anyone else’s judgement put you down!!” reneeaaron commented on the Instagram snap.
