Apparently we're all losing the ability to cook food from scratch. A new survey of 2,000 UK households found that a number of key cooking skills - such as making a cheese sauce that’s not from a packet, ‘proper’ stuffing and batter - are dying out.
Unsurprisingly, the research - which was commissioned by Ulster Weavers, a home textiles company based in Northern Ireland - found that the main reason people weren't cooking from scratch any more, was lack of time.

The research also found that while many top chefs are men, in the home, it's women who tend to take control and pass down skills in the kitchen; while 67 per cent of people said they were taught to cook by their mum, just 16 per cent said it was their dad who showed them how to make a meal.
