Mum’s shocking photo of son’s deadly chickenpox goes viral: ‘Please vaccinate your children!’

This is such a terrible thing to go through as a parent.

Child with extreme chickenpox

Chickenpox is seen as a childhood right of passage, uncomfortable and irritating, but something every child has to go through.

Well one mother has urged other parents to move away from the laid-back approach to the infectious disease – yes, it can be deadly.

When baby Elijah fell ill with the condition, he was admitted to hospital with a secondary infection, as the pox covered the tiny baby’s face, looking red-raw and extremely painful.

Writing as a warning to other parents everywhere, mum Kayley wrote:

“Vaccinate your kids people... The pictures below show you exactly why... Our poor baby boy who is too young to be immunised has caught the chicken pox.

“Today he was admitted to Ipswich Hospital with a secondary infection... Kaliah and myself also have the chicken pox.

"Adult chicken pox is so horrible and painful I would much rather give birth with no pain relief.

“Bottom line if you don't vaccinate your kids your a bloody idiot... Think about the risk you are putting on other helpless kids that are too young or who actually can't be vaccinated!”

The post has since been shared almost 90,000 times, and parents clearly took note of the worried mum’s advice.

Fellow Facebook friends wrote:

“I feel for you all - big love x I totally agree with your sentiments on immunisations too.”

“If even one more person vaccinates because of this post it'd be a win. But you and you family shouldn't have to go through this. Man it makes me angry.”

“That poor little darling! such a horrific thing to go through and how scary for poor mum and dad. I hope you all recover soon. A perfect example of why people should vaccinate. My thoughts are with you all”

While most people make a full recovery from chickenpox, maybe with a few mild scars, it can in fact be deadly for babies, pregnant women, teens and adults with week immune systems.
