We’ve heard our fair share ofbridemaids hellstories, and this one definitely deserves it’s place on the shelf.
Taking to Reddit – the internets answer to agony aunts – one woman revealed her dilemna over being bridesmaid to one rather demanding bride-to-be.
The user explained:
“So I've known my friend, who I'll refer to as Ella, since I was a child as she's the daughter of family friends but we've only become close in the past 2 or 3 years.
“She recently became engaged, and I readily accepted her offer to be part of her bridal party.
“Yesterday morning I received an email from Ella. It seemed pretty standard but then when she got into the look she wants for her bridesmaids she wrote 'Bridehairthrowaway, you'll need to dye your hair for the day, I'll take you to my hairdresser and cover the cost'," explaining that her red locks would be too much of a distraction on the big day.
Can you believe the cheek?
The Reddit user explained that her hair is naturally ginger, so it’s not like she is used to dying her hair or has a particularly loud shade of red. However, since the rest of the bridal party are brunette, her ginger hues simple wouldn’t do according to this bride.
"I texted Ella about it, she told me my hair would clash with the wedding colours and that brides get a veto over pretty much every aspect of her bridesmaids' appearances.”
And although she told her she didn’t feel comfortable changing her hair shade, the bride-to-be simple asked her to reconsider.
She then called upon commenters to ask if she was being unreasonable, having had little experience in wedding planning.
And Redditt users assured her that a ‘veto on bridemaids appearances’ was, indeed, pretty unreasonable.
They proclaimed:
“You are not being unreasonable at all! I'm planning my wedding now, and I'd NEVER ask bridesmaids to dye their hair! This is bridezilla-level sh*t, like she's scared of being upstaged by her 'maids, so she's making crazy demands.”
“This is on the same level as brides who purposefully choose ugly dresses for their bridesmaids or forbid them from losing weight/looking skinnier than the bride... aka, total ridiculousness!”
“Your bridesmaids are your closest friends/family. Why would you want to prove you are prettier instead of making it a fun party?”
What do you make of this bride’s demands?
