The first and most important gift you will ever give your child is the gift of life.

But the second, which they will have to live with forever (or, at least, until they can legally change it), is their name.

So how do you pick the perfect moniker for you little one?

Well, in 2002, Albert Mehrabian, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of California-Los Angeles, wrote The Baby Name Report Card: Beneficial and Harmful Baby Names.

He looked at the initial snap judgements that we make of someone, based on their name.

And he got VERY specific about it, too.

He looked at names we associate with successful people, with masculine/feminine people, with ethical and caring people, and with popular and fun people.

As a result, he came up with the following list of successful baby girl names - which he deemed as pretty much perfect.

Ladies with these monikers, he suggested, would be more likely to achieve their dreams and grab the life they wanted with both hands.

Are you ready for this?

The top ten girl names for success

  1. Jacqueline: May God protect

  2. Morgan: Defender of the ocean

  3. Elizabeth: My God is an oath

  4. Katherine: Pure, clear

  5. Victoria: Conqueror

  6. Lauraine: Honour and victory

  7. Susan: Graceful lily

  8. Catherine: Pure, clear

  9. Kate: Pure, clear

  10. Madeleine: Elevated, great, magnificent

Pretty strong list, eh?

He also revealed the LEAST successful baby girl names - which, in short, makes them the worst.
