If you’re still umm-ing and aah-ing over where to go on holiday this summer, we’ve got good news for you.
The best beaches in Europe have all been named - and not one, but TWO of them are right here in the United Kingdom.
Yup, travel experts Lonely Planet have released the Best Beaches In Europe 2015, featuring their pick of the best beaches in the continent for this year.
And, beating the white sands of Voutumi in Greece and the turquoise waters of Menorca, came two breathtaking British beauties.
It’s time to show some love to Devon’s Bantham Beach and Scotland’s Sandwood Bay!
Lonely Planet explained: “Bantham Beach, which lies in the South Hams, is a true all-rounder: surfers love its reliable waves; families come for the winning combination of sand, dunes and rock pools; and walkers admire its drama as they pass by along the South West Coast Path.”
Speaking about the rugged and remote Sandwood Bay, they added: “Getting there is half the fun: the beach is a four-mile walk from the nearest road, the path winding through moorland and grassy sand dunes.
“This sweep of sand has cliffs around it, a freshwater loch at its back and faces on to waters that stretch to the Arctic.
“Tall tales of ghosts, shipwrecks and mermaids add garnish, but most people find a tramp around this beautiful place poetic enough.”
We’re sold - who’d have thought that British beaches could be so beautiful, eh?
