We all fit into one of four shopping “tribes” according to new research from Barclaycard, but whichever one you fit into, chances are you love a good Christmas party…

Last week we showed you which tribe you belong to - the Bargain Hunter Gatherers, Screen Savers Profit Prophets or High-Street Pounders – and this week you can find out how your “tribe” goes about throwing the perfect festive party on a budget.

How do* you* throw a party?

Bargain Hunter Gatherer

You see a party as the perfect occasion to spend your accumulated loyalty points to treat their friends and family to a really good night. As well as all the usual party essentials, guests can expect a few extra bits and bobs too, because they were on offer! This tribe has sussed out where to purchase their food and drink from, finding money-saving deals, and ensured they earned double points with their loyalty cards.

Screen Saver

You will have ordered their food and drink online only a couple of days before, getting it delivered conveniently right to their door on party day. You’ll have a saved online food order from their last party to click for a repeat purchase – all from the comfort of their sofa. That means they’re stress-free and ready to party!

Profit Prophet

There are no flaky last-minute dashes to the off-licence for you, your meticulous list-making means you have everything you need weeks in advance, from nibbles to mixers. Making the most of 2-for-1 money-saving deals you spotted months ago, you’re dusting off the drink and party food that’s been hidden away at the back of the cupboard... then it’s party time!

High-Street Pounder

You’ll be serving hors d’oeuvre depending on what’s seasonal, good value, and recommended by their local deli. Who knows – if there’s a good deal on champers you may even serve this to their lucky guests. Having pounded the streets to find exactly what you want, you’ve certainly put in the time to make sure their party goes off with a bang.
