Diet

‘No carbs before Marbs’ might have been the TOWIE girls’ pre-holiday mantra but there was a bit more to it for Lauren this year, after she attempted to adhere to the Cambridge Diet plan to get herself in shape.

'I had three shakes a day and a high-protein dinner. Either tuna and boiled rice, chicken salad or fish and veg' said the reality TV star.

'There are certain foods you’re not allowed…I’m allowed tea, coffee, milk and yoghurts, but if you want to lose a lot of weight quickly, you’re only allowed the shakes.”

‘My consultant calculated my BMI and, for my height, I was a healthy normal weight, but for my body type, I didn’t feel comfortable or happy.’

'I was getting up at 6am and working out until 7pm. We climbed mountains! I had dirt in my nails and over my legs'

Back at the start of autumn Lauren attended Breakfree Bootcamp in Majorca – from where she excitedly tweeted ‘Had amazing time...so proud of my 9lbs loss in 4 days x'.

The intense camp wasn’t all fun and games though, with Lauren admitting it was really hard work;‘I did five sessions a day in the heat on half an apple and a boiled egg for breakfast! You’re starving. I met a lot of girls there and we became like a family. We were crying together because the training is so intense…

'I was getting up at 6am and working out until 7pm. We climbed mountains! I had dirt in my nails and over my legs. I was absolutely sweating! But it was such an achievement. I thought, “I can do this. I can survive.’

Motivated Lauren said it was ‘100%’ worth the effort though as she admitted she 'felt toned' after.

I saw horrible pictures of myself on websites and the nasty comments people posted and it got me terribly down’

Body Image

Lauren has cited her weight as the reason she left TOWIE earlier this year:

'I felt under so much pressure. Most of the girls on TOWIE are quite skinny …Next to the others, I'd be panicking over whether my arms looked fat or how big I'd look if I was sitting down…There have been moments when I cried. I saw horrible pictures of myself on websites and the nasty comments people posted and it got me terribly down’, said the star.

But the star has always remained resolute about her attitudes to her weight and how she knows she’s seen as a role model: 'I’ve been offered all the surgery under the sun but I haven’t had anything done. I’m too young, I don’t need it, and I’m not obese. I want to show girls that if you’re unhappy with your image, you can change it. I want people to aspire to that rather than going down the surgical route.’

However, she does admit that the negative press can get her down at times.

'It does get you down. I think people forget that I’m a real person with feelings.'
