Supermodel Elle Macpherson is 46 years old and looks absolutely amazing! No wonder she’s still referred to as ‘The Body’ after the famous workout footage she released in the nineties.
‘Just how does she look so incredible?’ we hear you ask
Luckily for us, her personal trainer of ten years, James Duigan, has written a book called the Clean and Lean Diet, which gives his advice for getting in shape. Elle has said there is, “nobody better in the world than James for getting a woman’s body into amazing shape.” High praise indeed! So check out how to get a body like Elle’s below!
Detox
Cleaning your body of nasty toxins is a priority for Elle when it comes to keeping fit.
According to James, it’s these toxins that attach themselves to unhealthy fat. Thus, you retain the fat to stop the toxins travelling around your bod, which is why you get caught in a weight – loss rut.
So, it seems pretty simple - once you’ve detoxed your body, you will start to shed fat.
To keep the body clean, one must avoid sugar, cut back on alcohol, and stick to only two coffees a day. Go for food with good fats, such as seafood, seeds and avocados to aid the detox process.
And according to Now magazine, Elle herself has said: “Organic food is really important. I can't stress enough the importance of eating non-processed food where possible.”
She also says eight hours of sleep a night is important when it comes to detoxing your body.
Exercise
Exercising three times a week is really important to Elle and James.
James said: "You should never really be working out for longer than an hour. Any longer than that and you haven't been working smart enough in that hour and you're really just putting your body under unnecessary stress.
"I'd say if you can do a good metabolic resistance circuit for about 10 minutes in the morning, which is an achievable about of time, and then 10 minutes in the afternoon or evening, then you'll see good results with your physique.”
Water
Drink lots! Elle drinks six 500ml bottles every day. She dots them around the house so she can pick them up as she walks by.
A Good Diet
According to stuff.co.nz, James said: "Keep it simple, lots of green veggies, lots of lean meats, lots of fruit, all the good stuff that keeps you healthy.”
An example of a good daily diet in his view:
Breakfast - a scrambled egg, 50g smoked salmon and a cup of spinach
Lunch – 1 grilled sea bass with salad
Snack – between 4 and 6 nuts
Dinner – 100g of beef, spinach and a quarter of an avocado
Snack –Chopped veg and 1 tbsp of hummus
And if you’re not sure, he says fish and greens is always a winner!
