Get Wedding 'Appy
Soon after getting engaged I downloaded WedHappy on my phone. It’s a great application that comes up with a list of important jobs to be done over the lead up to the big day, sending you reminders when the deadline for each task is coming up. I simply typed in my wedding date, and it calculates how much time you have, and when everything needs to be done. Its also super, satisfying ticking off each job as you do them! There’s other apps including – The Wedding Planner Guide and Wedding Planning Complete which do similar jobs.
Paperless invites
When it came to sending out our Save the Date cards, and then our official invites – we were shocked at how much it can cost to get them printed, and hadn’t taken into account that we would need to buy all the stamps, which alone, came to £45! There are new sites now, that allow you to personalize a pretty e-vite and send to all your loved ones via email rather than the old school letterbox way. Sites like www.paperlesspost.com have a lovely selection of designs, and when your friends and family receive them in their inbox – they can also RSVP online too so itl be much easier to get a quick response and confirm numbers.
Gift lists
Traditional wedding gift lists are still going strong with plenty of department and independent stores offering great servicesbut can be limiting with brand range. My fiance and I wanted a site that had a nice variety of brands as well as days out/foody gifts all in one place – I discovered www.prezola.com, and have been amazed at how easy it has been to set up! The site has hundreds of different brands and a great selection of ideas at a great range of prices, that can also include honeymoon contributions, charity donations and a night away in a hotel. We set up our list, and its so easy to login to add or remove if and when we want to – then our guests can log in and purchase whenever they fancy without having to go shopping. The best bit is that all the gifts get delivered in one go on a date convenient for us – hassle free!
Get snappy
Ollie and I love Instagram – and from quite early on, we came up with a special wedding based Hashtag, so each time we posted a pic of anything W-Day related, they would all be labeled with that so we can click it and see all our pictures in one place. We have had little notecards made up with our hashtag on it to go on our reception tables, to encourage all our friends to post their pics in the same way. That means, we wont miss a snap and all our pictures will be in one place. If you’re struggling to afford a photographer, this could work to get some lovely snaps for free too!
Party playlist
If you are on a tight budget and can’t afford to splash out on a DJ, or simply cant find a band that plays your kind of tunes – try creating your own playlist on Itunes or sites like Spotify. This way, you’ll have all your favourites in an order of your choice that can be popped on your MP3 player with minimal effort. Hiring some big speakers to play your tunes will come up to a fraction of the price that a Dj would and why not ask your guests to pick their favourite song when they RSVP, so everybody will have that happy moment on the dance floor during the party?!
Happy clicking techno fans!
