We wanted to know how Kimberly Walsh looks so slim and toned while managing to keep her womanly curves in tact!
On diet…
'For me it's important to have a great balance and know that Wagamama's every now and then isn't going to hurt you'
‘Although I believe that you should have days where you eat what you want though and you should never starve yourself of something that you want. For me it's important to have a great balance and know that Wagamama's every now and then isn't going to hurt you’ she added.
But it looks as though the old fashioned strategy of eating little and often is what works for Kimberly.
‘I just love food and you'll often find me munching on a banana or some nuts throughout the day’ she said.
‘I find I need a boost in the afternoon so I try to snack on things that will give me that instant energy. I’m much more of a snacker.'
‘I find it hard to keep the weight off. I’m quite normal really – not thin, not fat and my stomach’s OK because I used to dance loads.’
And it seems that the former Shrek actress knows exactly what it takes for her to stay in shape: ‘I have learnt the best way to truly lose weight is to exercise regularly and to eat well. It’s not what people want to hear but it’s the only way that works.’
‘I put some pressure on myself to eat well and exercise well’ says Kimberly.
‘Exercise stops my weight yo-yoing up and down. I don’t always enjoy the gym, but I know how important it is to stay in shape and stop weight gain.’
Although Kimberly is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing and is training up to seven days a week, Kimberly ensures she keeps active during her normal routine too.
‘I like to do a combo of cardio and resistance training, which is the way to do it and you're targeting all the little muscles in different ways. It speeds your metabolism up which means you can eat a lot more. I do like food, I'm not one of those people that can be on a diet all the time and plus, it's so boring. So that's the way for me to realistically stay the same size, I don't want to keep, like, going up and down with stupid diets and it's not healthy.’
'Exercise stops my weight yo-yoing up and down. I know how important it is to stay in shape'
But it wasn’t always that way: ‘When touring and performing with Girls Aloud, I never worked out – I didn’t need to. We danced all day and ate pretty well. None of us are particularly fit in the group – we’d have our moments and do a few sit-ups now and then but we’re all very lucky that we’re naturally toned and have an active job with all the touring and performing.’
It’s mostly my bum that annoys me. Fortunately people like J-Lo and Beyoncé are flying the flag for people with big bums so it puts me more at ease with it.
‘It’s actually lifted slightly [since I started training on Strictly]. I can see some lift- age going on,’
‘I’m definitely not losing any weight, but I’m toning up, which is fine by me…I can definitely see a difference.” ‘It [her bum] could still be a little bit firmer though.’
