It turns out that there is a fine art to booking a cheap holiday - and it’s all down to the day you book it.

For starters, you should NEVER book your airplane tickets on a Friday, Saturday or Monday.

Why? Well, because these are usually the days with the highest airline prices.

Instead, you should shop for flights on a Tuesday.

And, more specifically, a Tuesday at 3pm.

According to FareCompare, this day and time give you access to the best flight deals, as it’s when airlines release the most sales and the best time to book plane tickets.

If you want to shave even more pennies off your flights, you need to adjust your timings.

A recent Expedia survey showed that you can save a cool £181 if you book international flights 171 days in advance.

And, for domestic flights, you can make a nifty £36 saving for domestic flights if you book them 57 days ahead of your departure date.

Bottom line: Procrastination doesn’t pay.

Will you be taking this insider knowledge on board when it comes to booking your next flight?
