And, for many parents-to-be, there’s an insatiable urge to find out whether you’re expecting a baby boy or a baby girl.

And while your doctor won’t be able to confirm whether you're having a pink or a blue one until your 20-week ultrasound scan - groan - there are other ways to find out the gender or your baby much much sooner!

Plenty of people have their own theories when it comes to predicting the gender of an unborn baby - from the lustrousness of your hair to how you’re carrying your bump.

And, now, there’s the baking soda gender test… which apparently employs some science to help you figure out whether your little bundle of joy will be a boy or a girl.

          Apparently the gender of your unborn baby changes some of your hormones, which may then change the acid content in your urine.

          Baking soda gender test: does it work?

          Well... it depends who you ask.

          Some people will swear by this test as the only way to find out for sure whether you’re having a baby boy or girl, others claim it doesn’t work whatsoever.

          We reckon that this test, just like all home remedy baby gender tests, is nothing more than a bit of fun. If you really want to know what you’re expecting, it’s probably best to wait until your official ultrasound scan at 20 weeks.
