The newest animation to hit the big screen by Disney made $73.7 million in its opening weekend, according to The Guardian, making $6.4 million more than Frozen’s opening weekend in December 2013.

Zootropolis, known as Zootopia in the USA, is about a city full of different animals and Judy Hopps becomes the first rabbit to join to police force. Finding it difficult to enforce the law, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case, but that means working with Nick Wilde, a sly fox who makes her job a lot harder.

There’s an all star cast in Disney’s newest movie including Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba and even Shakira, who sung one of the songs from the film which is soon to be a sure hit!

The family-friendly film has already received great reviews, and now it looks like it could be in the running to beat fan favourite, Frozen.

Closer's Deputy Digital Editor & Film Reviewer, Kayleigh Dray, had this to say about the animated release:

"Zootropolis is written for both adults and children to enjoy; think razor-sharp wit, thought-provoking questions, AMAZING characters, and a song that'll just make you want to get up and dance the moment it plays.

"In short? It definitely lives up to the hype - and, yes, it's one of the best Disney films ever produced. I dare you not to fall in love with it!"

Zootropolis will be out in the UK on March 25th, just in time for the Easter break!
