If you fancy staying in this weekend and cosying up inside with a nice warm cuppa and a blanket, then we've picked out the best shows on the box over the next few days that you should definitely watch.
Of course, it's Britain's Got Talent season so you'll definitely want to tune in to see who causes headlines next week, but there's also a few new series starting that we're sure everyone will be talking about come Monday morning...
Friday 15th April
The Five, 9pm on Sky One (New Series)
Downton’s Tom Cullen, Lee Ingelby and Sarah Solemani lead the cast in this tense new drama. A group of four childhood friends are reunited when the DNA of an old friend they thought had died 20 years ago turns up at a murder scene. The question is: what part did they play in the child’s disappearance all those years ago? And what secrets are they hiding now? Be prepared to go on rollercoaster!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Series Two on Netflix (New Series)
If you haven’t seen this rib-tickler, it’s best to catch up with series one because it’s a cracker. We catch up with twentysomething Kimmy – who we saw get used to life in the real world after being held in a doomsday cult – as she searches for a job in the big city and, elsewhere, Titus (who’s gay) gets a shock when his ex-wife turns up.
The Graham Norton Show, 10:35pm on BBC One
Graham pulls out another fab array of A-listers for a chat, and tonight it’s Queen of Hollywood, Meryl Streep, who takes top billing. Also on the sofa is our very own Keeley Hawes and Eurovision hopefuls Joe & Jake.
Saturday 16th April
Michael McIntyre's Big Show, 7pm on BBC One (New Series)
He’s been a bit quiet of late – bar the odd appearance at spesh times of the year like Yuletide and Easter. We’re promised this new six-part series for Saturday nights will be “jam-packed” with celeb guests (this week Rod Stewart and James Morrison), plus musical performances and “comrades from the comedy realm” (whatever that means). And the whole shenanigans are recorded in front of a live audience at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane (at the heart of Theatreland in London, innit). All intercepted with some funnies from Michaelmus. Splendid!
The Wine Show, 4:25pm on ITV (New Series)
Yep, it’s the posh chap off Downton Abbey (aka Matthew Goode) and him from The Americans (Matthew Rhys), fronting this new series where they go on a “joyful romp” around Italy, drinking wine (nice work…). The self-confessed “enthusiastic novices” will look at the wines we drink every day, as well as looking at some fancy stuff – though there’s “not an ounce of snobbishness” promises Goode (last seen playing Downton’s Henry Talbot; Lady Mary’s suitor).
Play To The Whistle, 9:20pm on ITV (New Series)
Well, if there was anyone going to get the dads even more excited about football / sport, it’s Holly Willoughby. Complete with a guffawing audience plus famous faces like Frank Lampard, Bradley Walsh, Rob Beckett and Tom Daley (with lovely teeth), this panel show brings us a humerous take on sporting stuff.
Britain's Got Talent, 8pm on ITV
It’s week two and the search for someone with a special something continues. By that we’re not sure the judges mean those amongst us who can, say, whistle through their noses. But dancing dogs? Bring ‘em on! Ant ‘n’ Dec loiter in the wings for back patting and commiserations.
Get Him to the Greek, 9pm on E4
Russell Brand is extremely entertaining as Aldous Snow; an out of control British rock star required to perform at a concert at LA’s Greek Theatre. Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is the unfortunate record company employee who has to accompany him to said do - where Aldous relapses into drugs and booze after a disastrous break up. Hmm, can’t have been too much of a stretch of imagination for Russ, this one. Look out for cameos from the likes of Christina Aguilera and, erm, Zoe Salmon off Blue Peter.
Sunday 17th April
The Durrells, 8pm on ITV
Gerry makes friends with a mysterious chap out on weekend release from prison. The family don’t know this detail of course; he seems like a nice man who has a gull to look after. But then Louisa finds out he apparently murdered his wife, and then Gerry disappears – oh no!
Going The Distance, 9pm on Channel 5
Yes, it’s Drew Barrymore in schmaltzy romantic mode again, but this flick from 2010 isn’t half bad. She is Erin, all loved up with her summer fling Garrett (Justin Long); then she has to go home to San Francisco to finish her journalism degree. As you may have worked out from the title, this is mostly about the pitfalls of a long-distance, and a guy and his gal who try to keep the spark alive as they shuttle back and forth between California and New York.
