It's half way through the Easter break, so it's time for a rest and a good sit down with a cuppa watching some TV.

So put your feet up and get watching these brilliant shows, which we're sure you're going to love...

Friday 1st April

Boomers, 9pm on BBC1

april-what-to-watch

There’s a “gay party” when Matt and Seb move next door to Alan and Joyce. “Fag hag” Maureen is delighted, and while John is convinced they all secretly fancy him, Alan can’t believe they’ve taken an old cabinet off his skip (which just happens to be one of Joyce’s family heirlooms) and he will stop at nothing to get it back…

Billy Connolly's Tracks Across America, 9pm on ITV

april-what-to-watch

“Hail fine fellows; it is I – Billy!,” announces the perpetually cheerful Billy Connolly – taking us around the US of A (Chicago to New York, the long way round), where he lives. He’s jolly, and this is pretty interesting. Not bad for a bloke battling Parkinson’s.

Saturday 2nd April

Nanny McPhee, 4pm on ITV

april-what-to-watch

Here’s some classic family entertainment for a Saturday afternoon. Emma Thompson is marvellous (and unrecognisable) as a nanny who’s hired to tame some seriously naughty children thanks to her special witchy powers. Look out for Colin Firth and Maggie Smith, too!

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, 7pm on ITV

april-what-to-watch

Live from the deck of a cruise ship in Barcelona (er, nice!), we bid farewell to the current series with a stack of celeb guests – Andy Murray, James Nesbitt and Peter Andre all join in the fun. And after weeks of build-up we also get to find out who really shot Simon Cowell…

The Voice UK, 7pm on BBC1

april-what-to-watch

It’s the big one next week, but for now soak in the excitement and wait to see which four acts will be heading through to the grand finale on April 9th...

Identity Thief, 9pm on Channel 4

april-what-to-watch

This fab comedy stars Jason Bateman as Sandy Patterson, who lives the perfect life in Denver. When he buys some identity theft protection over the phone from con artist Diana (Melissa McCarthy), his world is shattered – his cards are confiscated and his TV is disconnected. Diana lifts his identity and goes on the run, spending his money like it was going out of fashion. The real Sandy has to find her and get his life back, which is easier said than done…

Sunday 3rd April

The Durrells, 8pm on ITV

april-what-to-watch

Prepare for a slice of loveliness, with the marvellous Keeley Hawes at the helm. Based on Gerald Durrell’s memoirs and with a Darling Buds Of May feel about it, this is based in the 1930s – in Corfu - when single-mum; the stressed out gin-necking (brilliant) Louisa Durrell does the unthinkable, upping sticks and taking her whole family (“one unteachable son, one psychopath, one vacuous daughter and you!” she yells at her crazy brood) to Greece. The result is a gentle mix of family feuds, animals, flirtatious locals and beautiful island scenery.

Home Fires, 9pm on ITV

april-what-to-watch

The ladies of Great Paxford are back, still trying to hold things together as the country – and the men-folk of the village – are off fighting Hitler and his Nazi cronies overseas. The stress of war might be rumbling away in the background, but there are happier moments in this opening episode: Claire and Spencer get married, while Pat strikes up a friendship with a Czech soldier stationed nearby (go on Pat!). But, as ever, wailing and gnashing of teeth are never very far away – poor Sarah has to reveal to the community that her husband, Adam, has been taken prisoner abroad, and there’s tragedy for Frances.

Undercover, 9pm on BBC1

april-what-to-watch

Ready for another twisty-turny Sunday night drama from the Beeb? Maya (Sophie Okonedo) is a hotshot lawyer who - for the past 20 years - has been working to free an American man from death row. And soon we discover hubbie Nick (Adrian Lester) is not all he seems. Intrigue-aplenty!
