TV might be the only thing keeping us sane at the moment, but it looks as though regular programming could be about to take ANOTHER hit as The Morning boss Martin Frizell has been taken ill.

Martin is currently in self-isolation after his wife, Fiona Phillips, took to Twitter to declare she had coronavirus – although she hasn’t been tested.

And now it’s claimed that ITV is concerned about the virus spreading through the team as Martin has been in contact with staff all week.

“Martin's been on set and in meetings all week with everyone - there's no-one he hasn't been in contact with,” said a source.

"There's a real worry that it could spread through everyone and the show won't be able to go on."

Fiona, who has been a regular face on This Morning over the years, tweeted on Friday, “I am in bed with #coronvirusuk.

“It’s not a very pleasant bedfellow, but nothing more than sore throat, dry cough, headache & tiredness. As long as it stays that way….DON’T panic!”

However, an ITV spokesperson insisted Fiona’s symptoms haven’t been confirmed as COVID-19.

"In line with the Public Health England and World Health Organisation guidelines Martin is isolating for 14 days as a member of his family has displayed mild symptoms which are unconfirmed.

"This is a precautionary measure and Martin has no symptoms himself."

ITV is under pressure to keep some of its other flagship shows running normally, with Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly presenting their regular weekend slot, Saturday Night Takeaway, to an empty studio.

And Corrie’s Andrew Whyment said that revised filming for the soap had been “tough”, writing on Instagram, “So ready for a drink tonight been a tough week at work with rewrites and changes with some cast members having to self isolate.”
