Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell wants Ed Balls to be axed from the show.

Viewers have been amused by politician Ed’s questionable dance moves on the BBC ballroom contest but panellist Darcey doesn’t think he deserves to still be there.

Speaking on The Chris Evans Show on Friday, the ballerina was very clear when asked what she would do if the public couldn’t vote him out following his performance.

Chris asked: "Is he through to the next week, or is he off the show?", and Darcey exclaimed: "Out!"

Former Strictly star, Ed’s fellow politician Ann Widdecombe, also spoke out, saying she thinks Strictly producers will give the judges more power over the voting public to make sure Ed doesn’t win the series.

"I don’t think that he will win it and I think the BBC would make quite certain that he didn’t win it," she said.

But Ed’s professional Strictly partner Katya Jones is confident he could triumph.

She said: "Whoever the audience thinks deserves to win, will win. If we went all the way to the final I wouldn’t feel embarrassed because I know how hard he’s worked.

"I don’t think he gets nearly enough credit for his dancing. He’s pretty good."

Ed himself has also hit out at criticism of his dancing, saying he knows he’s not the best but he’s enjoying himself anyway.

He told Strictly’s Zoe Ball: "I am just looking forward to the next dance. Katya and I are trying to do our best every week.

"I was not the best dancer at the beginning - I was the worst. I had never danced before. And I wasn’t the youngest either.

"But I’ve tried really hard and have been trying to get better every week. I have been trying to entertain - and Katya’s choreography is fabulous.

"At the end of the day, if the public wants us to keep coming back then we will keep coming back."
