The return to the dance floor marks the popular BBC show’s 16th Christmas show after the regular contest wraps earlier in December, and we cannot WAIT for the extra injection of sparkle into our Christmases.

In other Strictly news, fans have been left outraged as a slew of high-performing contestants– including Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Catherine Tydesley – are axed in favour of this year’s joke contestant, Mike Bushell.

And reactions on social media have even gone so far as to brand the show “a fix” as accident-prone BBC broadcaster Mike is saved from the bottom two for two weeks running, alongside pro partner Katya Jones – who was accused of being “drunk” during one performance.

"Strictly Come Dancing died tonight with a total fix!” raged one commenter. “BBC bias again for one of their employees Mike Bushell! Shirley Ballas again proving she is a BBC stooge! He walked through his routine & she lied that he stepped it up. Absolute bullsh-t!"

Another wrote, "Well Mike obviously got through because he works for the BBC and not because of his talent so... maybe next week? Or will we lose another actually talented couple to bias? #Strictly".

Katya was involved in controversy of her own last year when she was papped snogging her fance partner, comedian Seann Walsh, on a boozy night out, despite her husband Neil working on the show and Seann having a girlfriend himself.

Despite putting on a united front in the immediate aftermath of the scandal, Neil and Katya announced their split earlier this year.
