Will Young reportedly quit Strictly Come Dancing after throwing a huge tantrum backstage.

The former Pop Idol winner was said to be furious after show judge Len Goodman criticised his Bollywood dance, saying it didn’t have enough salsa in it before telling him to shut up, according to The Sun on Sunday.

After hearing Len’s comments, Will allegedly raged at a member of the production team: "I don’t need this s**t."

Sources have also claimed that Will’s professional dance partner Karen Clifton was annoyed the singer didn’t give "100 per cent" during their training sessions.

One source said: "Will signed up for Strictly expecting that he’d be really good and find it easy, but he struggled with it much more than he thought he would.

"He didn’t commit as much as Karen would have liked, and became very anxious about how popular he was.

"And his clash with Len seemed to be the final straw for him.

"Afterwards, he was overheard telling a production member: 'I just don’t need this s**t.'"

However, a spokesman for the show attempted to pour water on the claims, telling the newspaper: "Will was in a good mood backstage on Saturday night.

"All couples fulfilled their minimum training requirements last week."

Will blamed personal reasons for his departure but did not go into further detail.

He said in a statement: "To be part of Strictly has been a long time ambition of mine. As a performer, a viewer, and a fan of the show, to dance as a contestant was an experience I always hoped for.

"I have made some great friends, and am in awe of their performances week in, week out. I have found a creative partnership with Karen that has been the most wonderful thing to experience.

"I will be eternally grateful to her for her direction, talent and guiding me through three wonderful dances that I will be able to show my grandkids in years to come.

"I am so grateful to everyone who works on Strictly from the lighting designer to catering to the production team. Strictly truly is the most unique family and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

"And finally thank you to the BBC for supporting me throughout my journey. I wish my compatriots so much luck, and although I am back to being a viewer again, I’m certainly going to 'keeeep dancing'!"
