Since appearing on The X Factor, Olly Murs has tried his hand at a pop career before turning to television presenting, even fronting the show that made him famous last year.

But it seems he may be considering taking on a new project - Strictly Come Dancing.

And the star won’t be hosting the show, he may take part as a dancer.

The cheeky chap is set to perform during tonight’s launch episode of the BBC series and, after watching him dance about during rehearsals, bosses are apparently desperate to sign him up, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, this year’s cast have signed on the dotted line for the current series so he won’t be able to compete until 2017.

He said: "They were saying it’s my audition for Strictly. They were trying to get me to sign a contract for next year.

"With anything like that, you never say never, but my music career is my most important thing."

He added: "Though I never thought I’d present X Factor, then I did."

Meanwhile, Olly, who split from his property manager girlfriend Francesca Thomas a year ago, may be focussing his energy on something more immediate - finding someone new to date.

He recently revealed he had a crush on The Saturdays singer Mollie King but he didn’t manage to catch her eye.

He said: "She said she preferred Calvin Harris. That’s what I heard. I think she said, ‘Yeah, I like Olly, he’s great, but I really like Calvin.’ I was like, ‘Oh, cheers!’"

Better luck next time, Olly...
