Following THAT nail-biting cliffhanger at the end of Line of Duty Season 5, writer Jed Mercurio left fans ecstatic when he confirmed another series, and now we know just when we can expect it to arrive.
Despite reports suggesting fans would be made to wait two years to find out who the infamous 'H' is, the BBC have now confirmed the hugely-anticipated new series will be back in 2020.
In an action-packed trailer for what's coming up on the channel this year, fans are given a glimpse at the new series of Line of Duty, in a clip showing DI Kate Fleming, played by actress Vicky McClure.
The new one-minute long trailer also confirms other exciting shows for 2020, including the return of Our Girl with Michelle Keegan, Little Mix's new show The Search, Season 3 of Killing Eve, and of course, the 2020 Olympic Games.

AFO - Authorised Firearms Officer: A police office, who has been selected, trained, accredited and authorised by their chief officer to carry a firearm operationally. ARVs - Armed Response Vehicles: ARVs are crewed by Authorised Firearms Officers to respond to incidents believed to involve firearms or other high-risk situations.

Address - Internet Protocol Address: A numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.

SFC - Strategic Firearms Commander: The SFC has overall strategic command of firearms operations, with responsibility and accountability for directions given. UCO - Undercover Operative: A method use by law enforcement and intelligence agencies. They wear civilian clothes that fit in to avoid detection.

TFC - Tactical Firearms Officer: A TFC provides guidance on the appropriate use in respect of different tactical options involving the deployment of AFOs. VPN - Virtual Private Network: The extension of a private network that includes links across shared or public networks, such as the Internet.
Back in November it was revealed that Trainspotting actress Kelly MacDonald, who starred in hit BBC drama The Victim back in 2019, has been cast to play Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson in the new series of Line of Duty.
As DCI Davidson is drafted in to solve a murder, her methods begin to raise suspicions over at AC-12, with Detective Inspector Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) trying to uncover her wrongdoing.

If you've followed Line of Duty since it first hit our TV screens back in June 2012, you'll be on the edge of your seat to discover who the infamous 'H' is, with Superintendent Hastings also having a secret. If you've not get given the series a try, you can watch all five series on Netflix.
Although it's not clear which month Line of Duty Season 6 will land, at least we now know it's this year.
