Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has recently taken the helm of the Beeb’s new daily morning show, Morning Live, which airs at the same time as Lorraine on ITV, alongside Gethin Jones.
And now TV’s newest twosome have broken their silence on the inevitable comparisons with daytime telly’s golden couple, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
"I just don't see that [rivalry]. Morning Live is just to offer something different,” said Gethin.
“The options elsewhere are brilliant. Holly and Phil are fantastic, Lorraine Kelly is the queen of what she does and I had the pleasure of working with her on Daybreak many moons ago.
"But the idea of our show is to offer something different and topical because of the situation we're in at the moment."

But considering the new show is marketed as “a lively and entertaining mix of topical content and expert advice”, you can see the similarities.
Speaking to OK! magazine about competing with Phil and Holly in the partying stakes following their infamous 2016 show where they came to work in the same clothes they wore to the previous night’s NTA’s, Kym said, “We might never speak to each other again.
"I agree, I look forward to it. But I can't imagine me and Geth going out celebrating and then going to work in the same clothes we had on as the night before. That was brilliant!"
Following her departure from the cobbles late last year, Kym Marsh took the helm as guest host on BBC’s The One Show alongside Alex Jones for a one-off episode back in March.
And she evidently impressed bosses at the Beeb.
