It’s been five years since Kate Ferdinand, or Kate Wright as she was then known, last appeared on TOWIE and a lot has happened since then.

The influencer has left reality TV behind since marrying footballer Rio Ferdinand in 2019 and is now mum to their one-year-old son Cree and step-mum to Rio’s children from his first marriage; Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14 and Tia, 11.

Although she rarely speaks about her time on TOWIE these days, Kate recently opened up about her time on the ITVBe show during an appearance on Vicky Pattison’s podcast and admitted she felt “misrepresented” on screen.

She explained, “It only shows a certain side of your life, so I felt as though, as much as it was a great experience, I met so many people and it opened so many avenues, it didn’t really show the full side of me. You only got to see one side of me, if that makes sense.”

Kate continued, “I struggled with, ‘Who am I? And who does everyone think I am?’ It was a real journey.

“I felt as though I didn’t really know who the real me was and I felt kinda torn.

“I’m so pleased [to be out of that space]. Although it was great, I’m so pleased. I feel really content where I am now."

Speaking about the highs and lows of being on TOWIE, Kate added, “The highs? I mean, I got to experience things that I would have never got to have experience in my nine to five. You get to travel the world and go to premieres and do things you could only imagine doing.

“The lows, I suppose probably not showing the real side of me. My ex was on there, we would just bicker. I don’t feel like it represented me and I feel like I struggled with that.”

Although she hasn’t been on the show since 2017, Kate admitted she still watches TOWIE from time and time. She also revealed that her stepchildren sometimes play old clips of the show to “wind her up”.
