His fellow hosts, Scarlett Moffatt and Joe Swash, revealed that he was unwell and carried on gallantly, but fans were left wondering what was wrong with him.

Now the comedian, who came second to Scarlett when they competed in the 2016 series together, has now revealed on his Instagram that he was rushed to HOSPITAL after sustaining a serious injury on the set.

Taking to his social media profile, Joel shared two photos of himself to reveal that he'd had a nasty accident, telling his fans what happened - with one photo showing him getting stitches in his head, and another with a bandage around the wound.

He wrote, 'Unfortunately due to unforeseen windy circumstances blowing the set onto my head during rehearsals, I won’t be able to present Extra Camp this evening. I had seven stitches like a big brave boy and I’ll be back tomorrow.

'To be honest, I’m less worried about my health and more worried that the show will be better without me. Half a day off school to go home and watch neighbours! Woo! GOOD LUCK @scarlettmoffatt and @realjoeswashy.'
