I'm A Celeb viewers were shocked following Jack Maynard's shock exit

Youtube star Jack Maynard has been removed from I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after old racist and homophobic tweets from his past surfaced.

Ant and Dec announced the shocking news on last night's episode, they told viewers: "Due to circumstances outside camp Jack has had to withdraw from the show."

Now a spokesperson for the 22-year-old has released a statement and explained: "In the last few days Jack Maynard has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on 'I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' - filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.

"Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show."

They added: "Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far."

While the Youtube star was taking part in the ITV show, old tweets from his Twitter account surfaced which included racist and homophobic slurs.

In screenshots obtained by The Sun, one of his tweets said "at alices with my n----s!" he also repeatedly called other people "retards".

Jack has since released another statement to the publication and has apologised for his old tweets, it said: "Jack is ashamed of these tweets, many were deleted a long time ago.

"He would never use that language now and realises this kind of retaliatory, inflammatory, insulting language is completely unacceptable."

Jacks's departure from the show came as a shock and viewers were divided by his sudden exit. One person wrote: "Can’t believe he has had to leave because of things that were said 5 years ago; people change, gutted for him☹️ @Jack_Maynard23 #imaceleb"

Someone else tweeted: "Jack Maynard should be a lesson to all kids. If you post offensive terms or troll people online, it may come back to haunt you as an adult and potentially ruin your career. #ImACeleb"

A third said: "People getting so salty because Jack Maynard go the boot, the lesson is to not be a homophobic racist 🙂 simple 🙂 #ImACeleb"

Another commented: "I’m not being funny, but being 16/17 doesn’t justify Jack Maynard making racist & homophobic remarks. Little brat deserves to leave, hopefully teaching him a lesson. Got no room for that kind of shit 👊 #ImACeleb"

Even Katie Hopkins defended the Youtuber, by writing: "Dear @Jack_Maynard23 - they kept me in, my love. You're an angel by comparison. It's all just noise. Breath quiet air #jackmaynard #ImACeleb"

One more added: So seemingly Jack Maynard has left the jungle. That leaves one spot open for another celebrity #ImACeleb"
