She’s been the golden girl of TV for over a decade, and Holly Willoughby only has to post a social media snap of the outfits she wears on This Morning for fans to rush to emulate her girl-next-door look.
But a source says that while Holly, 42, has become a style icon for her cinched-in waists and floaty, floral dresses, she’s been forced into rethinking her “mumsy” style amidst the ongoing turmoil at This Morning.
An insider says, “Holly is still at a crossroads in her career, with the future of presenters at This Morning being uncertain – and it’s making her weigh everything up.
“She’s only in her early 40s and feels that she’s spent most of her 30s being this goody-two-shoes on the sofa with Phil, and it’s time for her to break out of that. She wants her brand to be exciting.”
It’s been three years since the mum-of-three left Celebrity Juice – the risqué late-night show that saw her squash avocados with her bum, swear and seductively eat a banana. But last week, Holly showed off her naughty side again at a birthday bash for the show’s host Leigh Francis, aka Keith Lemon. Dressed as Barbie, Holly wore a blonde wig and zip-down, hot-pink dress.
Our source adds, “Holly feels like she’s done her time trying to live up to being Miss Perfect, and she wants to ditch that and embrace her true self, a girl who knows how to go out and party – but is still able to hold things down at home and be a good mum. She thinks the public will find that more relatable and warm to her even more.”
