News emerged yesterday of more changes coming to The Great British Bake Off after it was announced Paul Hollywood would follow the show to Channel 4, and that Mary Berry, would not.

Now, sources say the BBC is considering launching a rival to Bake Off with Mary Berry, Mel Girdroyc and Sue Perkins at the helm.

An insider reportedly told The Mirror of The BBC's plans. "We've got three of the fab four staying with us. We're thrilled," they apparently said, adding: "The chances of us reuniting Mary, Mel and Sue are very high."

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reports that Mary will be placed at the heart of the BBC's cookery line-up, and styled as the broadcaster's number one TV chef until she chooses to retire.

The BBC are reportedly eyeing James Martin, who presented Saturday Kitchen up until this year, to replace Paul as the fourth presenter.

Meanwhile, The Great British Bake Off are reportedly looking at comedians The Chuckle Brothers - who captivated the nation in CBBC’s ChuckleVision - to take up the helm.

The comedic siblings released a statement on Good Morning Britain saying: “We normally like to keep things confidential, but as this rumour is out on social media we would like to say, that we can’t deny or confirm that we have been approached to host The Bake Off

“However we do know a lot about custard creams, cakes and biscuits.”

And the competition between the new GBBO and the old GBBO - which one is which!? - looks like it's already heating well up!

In a statement released yesterday, Mary cited her (very good) reasons for not moving to Channel 4, saying: "My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one."

Paul Hollywood was thought to have quadrupled his Bake Off salary in the move to Channel 4 prompting many, like GBBO's Ruby Tandoh to call him out.

Ruby took to Twitter to say: "ahhhhh a pea cocking man child lingering wherever the money is, i am shocked.

"this, from a man who turned up to work revving a rental lamborghini. or was it a ferrari. i don't remember, the air was thick w testosterone"
