Frozen Anna Elsa parents

If your kids - and you! - are a fan of Frozen, we have some pretty strange news for you. Because it turns out Frozen princesses Anna and Elsa are Tarzan's sisters.

Yes, really!

This popular fan theory has been doing the rounds for a while, but now, Chris Buck - who co-directored both animated Disney films - has confirmed it.

But... how? Well. The theory all has to do with Elsa and Anna’s parents.

Most Frozen fans will have assumed they died in a shipwreck, but according to Chris, that's not what happened at all.

Talking to MTV, Chris explained: “Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy.

“They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in a jungle.

“They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas.”

And yes, you guessed it. That baby boy turned out to be Tarzan. Quite the family, eh!

Chris went on the explain that, as each animated movie takes four years to make (WE KNOW!) he spends a lot of time thinking about the backstories of the characters. “In my little head, Anna and Elsa’s brother is Tarzan," he explained. "That’s my fun little world.”

Sounds pretty great to us!
