Emmerdale fans were left stunned yesterday evening after it was revealed that Maya Stepney, who’s been serving time for having a sexual relationship with minor Jacob Gallagher, is PREGNANT.
Did NOT see that one coming.
In the shocking final scenes of last night’s episode, Jacob is sitting in his room trying to contact Maya, who is ignoring his calls.
As the scene switches to Maya as she’s leaving prison, we see her delete Jacob’s number from her phone before the camera pans downwards to reveal a sizeable bump.
And the question on everyone’s lips is – who’s the daddy?
We know that Jacob and Maya were having sex before she was arrested, but she’d also been seeing Jacob’s dad, David Metcalfe, who was none the wiser about her affair with his son.

The storyline has already gone down as one of the most controversial in the show’s history, with Maya’s grooming and sexual abuse of Jacob lasting over a year, but this development has left fans utterly stunned.
“Jaw dropping. My neighbor in the flat below may(a) or may(a) not have heard me scream,” said one commenter.
“I literally shouted WHAT at the TV and tweeted immediately after it came onscreen,” said another, while a third questioned, “Who’s the Daddy, because the relationship with David was still physical so he wouldn’t get suspicious….”.
But not everyone was quite so surprise, with one writing, “I saw it coming but reckon it’s David’s baby not Jacob’s #bettertwist”.
“We aren’t as stupid as the writers think we are,” said another. “Here on Twitter we predicted that outcome when Maya went to prison."
