It’s been over a year since The Traitors series two introduced us to the absolute legend that is Diane Carson, and we’ve followed her every showbiz move since.
Fans quickly became obsessed with the fizzy rosé-loving Faithful when she appeared on the BBC show in January 2024 – and her on-screen funeral will forever be burned into our memories.
Now, with season three of the hit series done and dusted, Diane tells Closer how, as a super-fan of the show herself, she’s patiently awaiting the arrival of Celebrity Traitors this summer.
The spin-off series is believed to be filming this month, with the nine episodes rumoured to feature celebs including Kate Garraway, Stephen Fry, Courteney Cox, Tom Daley, Paloma Faith and........................Rebekah Vardy.
But Diane stresses she hopes ‘celebrity egos’ don’t fracture the overall Traitors experience for the diehard fans.
She says, ‘I’m looking forward to Celebrity Traitors, but I do worry about celebrity egos getting involved and I don’t want it to be like that. Each year they’ve picked amazing people. I hope they’ve picked as wisely as they did for our seasons.
‘Whoever they have in the cast, I hope they’ve picked celebs who are there to play the game.’
Diane has gone on to star on BBC staples, including Celebrity MasterChef and Would I Lie To You? and was recently nominated for a BAFTA for Most Memorable Moment for her iconic, ‘Paul just couldn’t be my son… but Ross is’ one-liner.
And now, the telly queen has dipped her toe into the world of podcasting, teaming up with London drag queen, Beary Poppins, to create a light-hearted, weekly podcast all about the two unlikely friends – who met during an interview last summer – getting to know each other better over a different bottle of fizz each week.
She says, ‘Beary is warm, funny and, during each episode, able to keep me on track, for which she honestly deserves a medal. Listeners should also expect a lot of fun, fizz and amazing guests. Ultimately, they will get to know me and Beary as we get to know each other.’
