Dancing on Ice’s unexpected standout star from the first episode, comedian and actor Rufus Hound, divided viewers when he referenced a recent government policy following his routine with professional skating partner Robin Johnstone.
Robin and Rufus were praised by judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and John Barrowman for their high energy performance and was the first celebrity to receive this year’s Golden Ticket twist, which means contestants can bypass the public vote and go straight through to next week’s show.
But amid his gushing reaction was a political jibe, after hostPhillip Schofield asked if he thought it was “crazy” he’d won the ticket.
“Mate, we live in a world where the people we elect don’t want to feed hungry children,” he said. “This is the least crazy thing.”
