Come Dine with Me is a classic programme, and we love it even more now there are celebrity specials.

However, similarly to all the other TV shows we watch we were desperate to know the behind the scenes secrets about filming.

What time do you actually start cooking your meal? Does filming actually take a week? What time do your guests have to leave?

We had SO many questions and we can honestly say, Marcel spilt the tea on the show during our chat with him.

"The most surprising thing about the filming of Come Dine with Me is how long the days are," he told Closer.

Marcel went on, "I didn't realise I was going to be finishing so late. It would be 2 o'clock in the morning and I'd be eating my dessert.

"By the end of [the episode] I do look a little bit tipsy. It's a long day... There's a lot of wine."

The former Islander went on to reveal they start preparing their meal around 9am.

"They make you do a few bits of prep so it's ready to put in the oven or put in the frying pan for when your guests arrive.

"You'll be cooking throughout the whole day. [Then you] stop and get yourself ready and then start cooking again when the party is going."

However, before the dinner party, the cast all have to get to the host's house and Marcel has confessed that everyone arrives a few hours earlier than when you actually eat your meal.

"They send a car to pick you up to take you over to whatever area you're going to be in.

"The majority of the time they want you there a couple of hours before so they can prep, film the walking in shots.

"There will be five cars staggered over one area of London waiting to be told to come round [to the celebritie's house]."

No wonder some of the host's seem a little...burned out.
