When does Calam Lynch join Bridgerton?

Bridgerton will return to our screens on 25 March. Calam will play Theo Sharpe, a hardworking printer’s assistant and intellectual.

The second series of Bridgerton will focus on Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, and his love interest Kate Sharma, played by newcomer Simone Ashley.

A trailer for the long awaited second series was finally released on 9 March after months of teasers and production images. In the trailer we Anthony take centre stage. We even see him recreate Colin Firth's frankly ICONIC Pride and Prejudice scene in which he goes swimming fully clothed. This scene made the case for Colin as a sex icon (not that that case really has to be made for Johnathan Bailey. From this incredible trailer we can't wait to see what the second series has in store fore us.

Who are Calam Lynch’s parents?

Calam comes from an acting family, including his parents Niamh Cusack and Finbar Lynch. You’ll probably recognise Niamh from 90s shows Heartbeat and Always and Everyone, while Finbar is best known for his stage career and was nominated for a Tony Award in 1999 for his role as Canary Jim in Not About Nightingales.

Calam’s cousin is actor Max Irons, who has starred in movies like Red Riding Hood and The Riot Club.

Speaking of his decision to follow his parents into acting, Calam told YMC newsletter," Until I was 19 I was much more interested in football than acting but I’ve always loved stories. In fact one of my favourite things about football is the narrative, the drama. And I think it was a matter of time before I gave it a proper go. As a kid I really looked up to my cousin Max [Irons] so I think when he started acting professionally it made it seem like a much more real prospect."

Where did Calam Lynch go to university?

Calam studied Classics at Oxford University and also appeared in numerous student productions during his time there, including Shakespeare’s Edward II, Midsummer Nights Dream and A Streetcar Named Desire.

Is Calam Lynch married?

Not much is known about Calam’s personal life, although he isn’t thought to be married. In a 2020 interview about his role as George Winthorpe in that year's adaptation of classic novel Black Beauty, he mentioned he had a partner.

Who is Calam Lynch dating?

There were also rumours floating around that he was dating his Black Beauty costar Mackenzie Foy after the two featured in each other's Instagram photos. Neither have confirmed this, however, and there is little (if any) evidence to back these rumours up.

Speaking of taking on the role he said, "I hadn’t read the book before I got the meeting. I really loved it when I read it, but I think I’d seen Mackenzie’s work and thought she was great, and Iain [Glen] had actually played my dad in a TV series a year before, and then I read the script. There was so much about the script that I loved. I think the relationship and the way Jo’s written throughout the whole film, then the way that their relationship works, and how honest and equal it is — I really love that."

He continued, "I watched it for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my parents and my partner. We all thought that in a really weird time this year, where everything feels so hopeless, it’s a really sweet, honest, pure story about hope and there being light at the end of the tunnel. That’s a really nice thing for people to watch around Christmas as well. "
