He said: "I’ve always said as long as I’ve got a passion for it I want to be there. My passion is still very much there. I’ll miss being part of the team.
"I’ll miss being a Strictly dancer. It’s kind of weird to imagine yourself not having that as your… I do a lot of other things of course, but the main thing I’ve been known for is to be a dancer on Strictly. It feels quite raw."

A source told the publication: "Producers were said to be furious over his recent interview, in which he criticised his celebrity partners.
"They’ve always tolerated his rows with the judges as it creates drama and acceptable headlines but this was a step too far."
Another source revealed: "The producers believe no-one is bigger than the show.
"They’ve been struggling to recruit celebs in recent years and the producers thought this interview was a step too far in terms of negative press for the show, made it more difficult to recruit celebrities and was may have been a factor in the decision to not renew his contract."
Oh DEAR. What a mess!
But another source told the paper that it was because of Shirley Ballas that Brendan was not invited to return.
They said: "The rows he had in the last series with judges Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli were the last straw.
"Brendan was stubborn and did not back down, which created an atmosphere backstage at the last series.
"Not one judge has reached out to him which says a lot. He was not popular. His time was up and it seemed like Brendan was the last to know."
N'aww, poor Brendan!
However, a representative from the BBC put on a happy face as they released a brief statement on Twitter, wishing him well.
Brendan infamously locked horns with Shirley over his Tango routine with Charlotte Hawkins in last year's series, after Shirley told him off for incorporating choreography that shouldn't have been in there.
Shirley said: "We've established that there is no rise and fall in tango, you have to make a concrete decision not to use rise and fall," to which Brendan snapped back: "I'm really sorry but there was no rise and fall in that."
Shirley then retorted: "You should play it back, Brendan, because there is," and he responded: "I will my dear, I will."
Bruno Tonioli stepped in to back Shirley up: "I'm not an expert, I've only done about 500 shows but I think Shirley's right, you should be more respectful," and Brendan said: "I do respect her but I just don't agree."
VERY awks.
