She’s been keeping fans guessing over her relationship status, but last week Alison Hammond confirmed she is officially off the market.
Speaking on the Saving Grace podcast, Alison, 48, revealed, “He’s a lovely man and all I can say is that I’ve had him hidden for a year and a half.
“He loves me to bits. He absolutely worships me and massages my feet every single day. What more do you want?”
The This Morning host – who is mum to son Aiden, 17, from a previous relationship – also candidly revealed her cheeky chat up line.
She added, “I just said, ‘Babes, do you think you can handle this juice?’…You’ve got to be confident haven’t you?”
And in another recent interview, she gushed, “There is someone special, and if he wants to pop the question, he can pop away.”
With rumours swirling that Alison – who has also reportedly lost 2st recently – could be set to take on a permanent role at This Morning in the next few months, a source tells Closer, “Alison is feeling happier than ever at the moment and more confident in herself than she has been in a long time.
“This boost is down to her weight loss, her fans, and the fact that she’s thriving in her job at the moment. But also it’s down to the new man in her life. She made no secret of the fact she wanted her fairy tale and she’s over the moon. Her friends wouldn't be surprised if she announced her engagement soon and she’s always talked about how much she’d love to finally walk down the aisle.
“It seems like everything in her life is going amazingly right now and she’s thinking she really wants to aim higher in her career.”
However, the bubbly star – who narrowly missed out on an NTA for best TV presenter to Ant and Dec last month – hasn’t always been so self-assured.
In March, Alison burst into tears during her popular Friday morning show with co-presenter Dermot O’Leary, as she revealed how her battle with obesity had crippled her self-confidence.
Her vulnerability and self-deprecating humour have made her a huge hit with fans, and Alison and Dermot received rave reviews when they replaced Holly Willoughby, 41, and Phillip Schofield, 60, for a two-week stint in July.
Just two months later, the seemingly untouchable Holly and Phil saw their popularity plummet when they “skipped” the queue for the late Queen’s lying-in-state, and were later forced to defend themselves on air – where they said they were only there for “broadcasting” purposes.
The duo were also booed when they accepted their NTA for Best Daytime Show – a shock which has done nothing to quieten ongoing rumours that there could be a shake-up of presenters on the show.
We recently reported how Alison was fast-becoming the favourite to take over on a more permanent basis, and how producers had already expressed their interest in tying her into a “golden handcuffs” deal with the channel.
Now the source adds, “Alison has made it clear to bosses that, although she doesn’t want to take anyone’s job, she would like to put herself forward to be a permanent host if the role becomes available.
“There’s no question that Alison’s star is going to continue to rise and she’s keen to make the most of any opportunity that comes her way.”
