Strictly has caused a bit of controversy after Alexandra Burke was in the bottom two for the second time in two weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were outraged last night [Sunday 3] after Alexandra Burke and Davood Ghadami fell in the bottom two following the lack of public votes.

The shock came shortly after the X Factor singer was top of the leader board, alongside Debbie McGee, with 39 points however she still fell in the bottom two.

It was then reported that the 29-year-old star suffered a 'meltdown' backstage after she had to compete to get into the semi-final of the dance show.

According to The Sun, a source revealed: "Alexandra was sobbing and shaking in the green room after the dance-off.

"She couldn’t understand why the public had voted her into the bottom two for the second week in a row despite getting great scores.

"She had to be reassured by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, she seemed inconsolable."

After it was revealed that Alexandra and Davood were in the bottom two, lots of fans slammed the BBC One shows voters as racist following the results, with one person writing: "The public's mean-spirited and mildly racist refusal to give Alexandra Burke her due is spoiling #Strictly for me now"

Someone else said: "So the only 2 remaining non-white celebrities pitted against each other in the dance-off. Feels humiliating. Racist voters. I'm ashamed of being white in this country #strictly"

Another commented: "When Mollie and Alexandra score about the same and only Alexandra is in the dance off, it's hard to see this as not racist. #scd #Strictly"

A fourth wrote: #BBC #Strictly racist voting again. Black performer tops judges scores but is in dance off 2 weeks running. Sad people cannot vote on dance"

One more added: "How racist are Strictly voters ? Alexandra in the dance off again!"

However, some viewers dismissed the show being racist, with one person saying:

Why are people saying it's racist when others don't like Alexandra / don't want her to win? Where's the racism?? #Strictly

Another said: Alexandra just comes across as disingenuous. No evil racist undertones at all, so let’s not even say that as it’s ridiculous! It’s half dance competition, half personality contest. People obviously just don’t like her personality...#Strictly"

A third wrote: "And to the people saying the voting #Strictly public are racist wasn't last years winner black? & do you remember Alesha Dixon?"

One more added: "#Strictly is not racist. Perhaps the public are sick of Alexandra's fake crying and dramatic behaviour!"

The Strictly star has since denied having a meltdown backstage, on Twitter she wrote: "Because it’s really hard to read lies. I have to say something... after the show on the weekend I actually WASN’T in the green room. I was in the physio room treating an injury and then went home. NO meltdown... just happy that we made it through another week xx"
