Lord Alan Sugar has revealed his worries over fame hungry contestants on The Apprentice

The Apprentice is returning to our screens for its 14th series on Wednesday 3 October and, as usual, the star of the show Alan Sugar is not holding back with his controversial comments.

Lord Sugar was quick to throw shade at Andrew Brady following the ex-contestant’s new-found celebrity status after his stint on The Apprentice.

Speaking about fame-hungry candidates Lord Sugar, 71, revealed: “I do worry a lot about contestants’ intentions at the beginning of the show – but they don’t tend to last too long”.

The business tycoon added: “A lot of contestants come with the intention of winning and find their way all the way through the process, then get withdrawal symptoms after the show ends and they’re not spotted in Tesco anymore.”

He then proceeded to take a dig at Andrew’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, saying: “[Ex-candidates] want to do something else because they’ve got that flavour of being on TV – but they don’t get very far. They get used as dummies in shows and are made fools of – then they just fall away”.

The ex-apprentice candidate, who became famous for his behavior on The Apprentice and flirtatious antics on CBB, has since become better known for his on-off relationship with fiancée Caroline Flack.

Andrew’s relationship dramas with Caroline first became public when he was accused of cheating on the Love Island host shortly after the pair got together in March 2017. Amidst claims of infidelity, Andrew was also branded fame-hungry and sceptics suspected he used Caroline Flack for her celebrity status.

The duo – whose age gap spans over a decade – later reunited and became engaged in April 2018 before experiencing a rocky patch throughout the summer.

Last week, it appeared the pair had reconciled once again as Andrew was spotted moving his belongings back into Caroline’s London pad.

The 14th series of the Apprentice starts on 3 October at 9pm on BBC one.
