Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Oduba has announced he's split from his wife Portia after nine years.

The Strictly 2016 winner confirmed the sad news on Instagram, writing, 'Hi guys. Portia and I are sad to announce that we separated earlier this year.

'We're so grateful for all the love you've shared with us both over the years.'

He went on to say, 'We want to thank you in advance for respecting our privacy as we navigate this difficult transition.

'We will be making no further comment. Be kind, always.'

Ore and Portia met in 2010 when they were studying at Loughborough university and after five years together they got married.

Then in 2018, they welcomed their son Roman into the world and three years later they welcomed their daughter Genie.

Ore took part in series 14 of Strictly and while he didn't even dance at his own wedding, he went on to win the show alongside Joanne Clifton.

At the time he spoke about his wife's support and admitted, 'I was the third wheel [when Portia and Joanne met].

'There was a lovely moment towards the end of the series where Portia had work and she came and joined Jo and me after a session and went into town. [Strictly] sweeps you up. I hadn’t had the chance to do anything work-wise, admin-wise - boring life admin.

'So I left training and I was on my phone for a bit and the next thing I looked up and Portia and Jo were 100 yards down the road just yapping.'

He joked, 'I was the victim of the Strictly curse!'
