When it comes to Strictly, some things are given: the outfits are going to be fabulous, there’s going to be one TERRIBLE dancer, Craig Revel Horwood will make some scathing comments, and there’s going to be at least one soap star in the line-up.
Well, this year, there’s not one, not two, not three, but FOUR soap actors taking to the ballroom floor – and two of them have appeared on EastEnders.
Alongside Bobby Brazier, who currently plays Freddie Slater on the BBC show, former EastEnders star Nigel Harman will be competing for the Glitterball trophy. So, does this mean there’s a Walford rivalry between the two? Not if Nigel’s latest comments are anything to go by.
Speaking to Closer online ahead of the Strictly launch show, Nigel admitted he’s not even sure if Bobby knows he once starred on EastEnders and, is it just us, or is that a massive burn to himself?
When asked if there will be a friendly EastEnders rivalry on the dancefloor, Nigel told us, “I don’t even know if Bobby knows I was in EastEnders. It was so long ago, I haven’t told him.
“It’s 20 years since I was on screen. I think it’s on one of those old BBC channels, you can see the old storylines. But no, I haven’t.”
Nigel also revealed he’s got a secret skill that could help him while he’s competing on Strictly – he’s a meditation coach.
He explained, “I did a little bit today because I could feel my heart going fast. So I went and sat - we’ve got a little dressing room here, so I went and did a bit.
“I think it will help. But when the Saturday shows come and you’re in the stream of this brilliant show, finding the time to take for yourself, a little breath here and there can do wonders.”
In other Strictly and EastEnders news, Bobby recently revealed that he'll be taking a break from the soap while he's competing for the Glitterball.
