According to sources, the former X Factor winner, 30, is hotly tipped for a role in Coronation Street.
An insider told the Daily Star: “The bosses think Shayne would be perfect for the show. They’ve made moves to try and get him on board and have made it clear they are open to discussions.”
It seems Shayne, who won X Factor way back in 2005, is just as keen to join the ITV soap as he’s tweeted more than once his interested in the show.
The source added: “He’s made it clear he’s definitely interested.
“Talks are ongoing at this stage. They were keen to find out if Shayne would be up for going into TV acting full-time.
“Nothing is confirmed at this point but it is looking hopeful.”
He may have started out as a singer (That’s My Goal, anyone?) but Shayne has tonnes of acting experience now.
The Mancunian has starred in West End show Rock of Ages and he also took part in a recent War Of The Worlds tour.
If Shayne does become a local in the Rovers Return he will join Kym Marsh, who swapped signing for the cobbles.
Kym rose to fame on another of Simon Cowell’s shows Popstars, and won a place in the band Hear’Say. But we all know how that one ended…
